Artist statement
I photograph the body more than the face. The face can be a distraction; the body carries the story: how it moves, what it remembers, how cloth follows it. Growing up on Lagos Island I watched the Eyo masquerade, where a covered face lets a person become anyone beneath the garment. I carry that into almost every image. The work draws on history I grew up hearing, my own experience and stories others have trusted me with.

Visual merchandising · Pop-up · London
AMA is a menswear brand from Lagos. For its Noise collection we built a walk-in pop-up that worked as a stage set, tied to Love in Lagos, the theatre show staged in London. A swagged velvet curtain frames one hero look, the rails stand in as the wings and the rug marks centre stage, so walking in feels like stepping into the play.

Visual merchandising · 3D window concept
A night window for streetwear. One look stands at the centre of a violet neon ring while the rest of the collection floats around it on clear orbits, like planets.

Dr Folake Kofo-Idowu is an infectious disease specialist with a healthcare start-up in Lagos. Her wardrobe was full of strong colour that was working against her. After a full colour analysis to find her undertone, we built a set of coherent working staples and kept the playful, colourful pieces she loves, now in shades that suit her.
A lover of African print, her one rule was not to lose the African touch, so every piece still feels like her.

Private clients, weddings and editorial.
Creative direction · Marsden · Summer '26
A campaign to launch Marsden's new linen colourways to a younger audience, shot on location in Lagos.

About
“Creativity is an intimate process of discovery, where the boundaries of personal talent are tested, refined and expanded.”
Medinah Sanusi is an artist, visual merchandiser and creative director working between London and Lagos. Her eye was formed early, watching her mother style the bold prints, patterns and fabrics of Nigerian dress, and colour and symbol have shaped her work ever since.
She trained in fashion styling and image consulting at the International Career Institute, Santa Monica, graduating with first-class honours, and founded a styling practice in Lagos covering costume styling for film, personal styling and image consulting. A first-class degree in Fashion Styling and Creative Direction from Istituto Marangoni, London, followed, alongside a retail and visual merchandising career at Celine.
Today her work spans fine art photography rooted in storytelling, spatial display, campaign direction and brand strategy for retail, as well as personal styling and image consulting for private clients and couples on their wedding day.
She is driven by stories, historical and modern, and by turning spaces into brand experiences that people remember long after they have walked out. Her references run from Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli, Dior and Alexander McQueen to Fela Kuti.
